Wasted Away Again in Margaritaville

Image
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to see Jimmy Buffett in concert. When James told me he was going, I jumped on the chance and finally made it happen. So Saturday morning I woke up at 3:30 AM to get dressed and head to James' by our 5 AM departure. We arrived in Frisco around 8:30 with plenty of time to stop at Kroger to buy last minute supplies before heading to Pizza Hut Park for the pre-concert tailgating. I must say that there are some truly die hard fans out there and I learned a lot of lessons on what to do next time. Tiki bars and some form of motorized transportation are a must. Have you ever seen a crusin' cooler? Somehow I managed to get away without a picture of one but it was the most awesome thing I have ever seen. You don't have to worry about your drink getting warm while you are walking around. It is on ice under your butt! We made friends with our tailgating neighbors which made for an even better day. Wow...there were so many great th

I am heading to Dallas tomorrow morning bright and early to see Jimmy Buffett in concert. I am super excited about this since I have never gotten to see him live. The man did grow up in my home town and he rarely plays there. So this evening I made a last minute run to Walgreen's (because they have everything!) to grab a few essentials for my trip. As I was about to stroll down the snack aisle to grab some granola bars for the road, I spotted a new Dr Pepper product that I just had to buy. Dr Pepper Soda Pops...Dr Pepper Freezer Pops. Who knew!?! They are like the Flavor Ice things I used to eat all the time as a kid but in Dr Pepper flavor. AWESOME! So...of course I bought some and you better believe I will be sucking on one in the morning on my way to James' house for our 5 AM departure. Oh and the Krispy Kremes are for my trip mates. I thought I would be nice and buy us breakfast for the road. Besides, how could I drive by Krispy Kreme when the "Hot Doughnuts

Plumeria

Since several people have asked me the meaning of my tattoo and I figured it would be smart to look up the meaning so I could say something more intelligent than I liked the flower in Hawaii! So here for all the world to see is the meaning behind the plumeria flower as discovered on the internet (so we all know this is true): Plumeria flower tattoos tends to have a tropical charm about them. They are considered as popular symbols of timeless beauty. Plumeria is a symbol of spring and life. So a Plumeria flower tattoo stands for vivid beauty and liveliness. Plumeria flower tattoo is generally chosen by people who have a very positive attitude towards life. There you have it. So...what do you think? Did I choose well?

American Idol Goes Broadway

So I got a little excited and a little scared when I heard that American Idol was going to do an Andrew Lloyd Webber theme this week. As you all know, I love anything Broadway (well...just about anything...my jury is still out on Sweeney Todd) and Sir Andrew is by far the best composer and most well known name in musical theatre. That being said however it is also very easy for someone to butcher some of the classic songs from some of the most loved musicals in the world. The prime example of that would be Jason Castro attempting to sing Memory. I believe I have said before that he needs to go. If he isn't gone after tonight's performance, then America has some serious issues and doesn't know what real talent is. Jason has only nailed one performance so far and that was the evening he performed the Is version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. That song suited him well. Memory, however, did not. First off, he didn't even know what musical it was from or anything ab

Sunday afternoon after perusing the newspaper, I decided to head out to the local Super Target because they had dog food on sale. After all, Maverick tends to eat me out of house and home...mostly because he destroys all the toys and beds I give him. Anyway, I decided to don my earphones and iPod and proceeded to beep bop my way through the store. I am proud to say that I saved myself more than $10 with all the coupons I had clipped prior to leaving the house. As I walked through the aisles of the grocery section, I spotted something that just simply made my day (I know...I lead a sad existence). I have been trying to cut back my Dr. Pepper intake and for those of you who know my love for said drink, you realize how hard this is for me. I typically drink two a day at work either from a to go cup or from the break room stock while I am at work. So I try not to keep any at home so I am not as tempted to drink them at home. However, the item I spotted was something that I felt wou

Followup

So a couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog asking the MavsMom faithfuls to weigh in on whether or not I am codependent . And I got not even so much as a spam comment back on that one. Hum...makes me wonder because I know several of you have strong opinions and are typically not afraid to voice those opinions (cough...Aardvark...cough). So needless to say I was surprised. That being said I suspect the reason no one spoke up was out of fear of hurting my feelings (or at least that is what I am going to believe.) Here is the conclusion I have come to since then: Yes, I do think I am codependent and I do believe it is a problem. So I have taken the first step to remedy that problem today. I have an appointment to see a therapist later this week. I probably should have done this when Shawn and I first split up but I honestly thought I was handling everything just fine. The reality is that I wasn't. I am lonely and lonely is something I don't handle well. Just count the numb

Today I took the plunge and did something I have been debating since I was 18. I got a tattoo. One of my co-workers, Edie, and I have been discussing doing this for several weeks now and today was finally the day. I picked my design: And showed it to my tattoo artist, Leo, at Diablo Rojo who told me it would take about 20 minutes. Well that was by far the longest most painful 20 minutes of my life! (I think it actually took about 30 minutes not counting the break after the outline.) The outline was definitely the worst part and I started to feel flushed and began to think I was going to pass out and throw up. So a break and a cup of cold water was definitely in order. The shading actually wasn't as bad but still felt like I was being burned and scratched at the same time. Here I am as the shading was being done. Don't be fooled...I was in pain. It still stings a bit but I think the finished result turned out pretty well. What do you think?

Codependent Much?

So I am writing this post to give the Mav's Mom faithfuls an opportunity to chime in on a certain subject. (I believe I fixed the comments so you don't have to register. If not, let me know.) I was having a discussion with my new friend (boyfriend?), James, the other night because all sane people have serious discussions at 2 AM. Well, the topic of choice was both our failed marriages and most recent relationships and the question came up as to whether or not I am codependent. Now, I would like to think that I am not especially with my past life as a military wife. I feel that I am fairly independent and used to having to handle everything on my own. James confessed to being codependent so I am wondering if it is really a bad thing. Now here is where you, my readers, get the opportunity to express your opinion. My first question is do you (especially those of you who know me well) think I am codependent? Secondly, is codependency really a bad thing in a relationship?

Vote for SouthPaw!

As most of you know when it comes to college football, I bleed Crimson and White ! However, I always have a dilemma when it comes to college hoops. While they aren't always the best team out there, the University of South Alabama (in my home town about 10 minutes from my house) holds its own in the SunBelt Conference. As a matter of fact, South made it to the NCAA tournament this year only to lose to Bulter in the first round. However, SouthPaw is still going strong. The USA mascot has made it to the Mascot Final Four. Here is the link so you all can vote for SouthPaw. Everyone needs to vote so the great state of Alabama can represent. http://redeye.chicagotribune.com/sports/custom/tournament/red-mascottourney-2008,0,397087.special Now what am I to do once South's football team starts playing? It is a good thing they won't be part of the SEC because I don't think I could give up on my Tide boys!

Chick Fil A

OK...so anyone who knows me knows my love for all things Chick Fil A. Well I got an email for my favorite company in my inbox yesterday with the link for a fun little game. Check it out. I love the graphics of the cow in bed racing for chicken biscuits. http://www.chickenforbreakfast.com/
