What Made the Cut
In one of my last posts, I discussed cutting back on my makeup spending and I thought you guys might be curious about some of the products that made the cut. I have also found out that I inspired a few of my friends to do the same. So, I figured I could share with you the items in my makeup arsenal that I love.
Foundation: My quest for the perfect foundation has been long and expensive. However, I have kept coming back to the same foundation: Double Wear by Estee Lauder. I have used this off and on for at least 7 years (I can only remember that because I know I wore this foundation to my first wedding.) It covers well and lasts so I don't feel the need to touch up during the day. I also don't feel like I am wasting my time by putting this on because I still look like I have makeup on hours after I apply it.
Powder: Once again this is a product that I have used for years: Cover Girl Fresh Complexion Pocket Powder Foundation. Not really sure how I found it but I picked it up in the drugstore ages ago and I have kept going back to it. I love the coverage this provides. I love that I can wear this without foundation underneath and it still looks great. I do not love that I have a hard time finding it. Either the store doesn't carry it or they are out of my shade. I normally buy 2 every time I find it in stock somewhere because I do have such a hard time finding it.
Eye shadow: This is another drugstore find of mine: Revlon Color Stay Eyeshadow in Neutral Khakis. This quad is fabulous for my hazel eyes. I can dress it up or down depending on the color combination I decide to use. I even recommended it to my mom. And I am upset now because I think Revlon has discontinued this set. I can't find it on their website anymore and I am finding limited, discounted stock in the places I can find it. The only good thing about that is it is cheap right now so I can stock up without feeling guilty since I am paying $2.50 or less for the set.
Lipstick: My favorite lipstick goes back to my sister-in-law's Mary Kay lady days: Mary Kay Creme Lipstick in Downtown Brown. Not only is this perfect shade of brown without being too orange, but also this lipstick lasts. It requires minimal touch ups throughout the day which is a good thing since I am not one to touch up my makeup throughout the day.
I also have Urban Decay eyeliner, Great Lash mascara, and Beauticontrol blush in my makeup kit. These are products that I like but not necessarily ones I love. They were what I had when the Great Makeup Disposal of 2011 happened so I kept them in favor of having to purchase replacement items. I already know I won't be purchasing the mascara again since it makes my eyes itch but I will determine what I will replace it with later.
