Proposal Story

I guess I should first apologize for taking so long to post this or anything for that matter. Life has been very busy between work, school, and maintaining my house and relationship. I have also found that when things are going well in my life, I don't have as much to write about. That being said...I will get on with my story.

The first Monday of every month means invoicing for me. We usually have to stay late and are doing good if we get off by 6:30. I went to work on January 4th prepared for it to be a typical first Monday. However, thanks to year end and software issues we weren't able to invoice so I was able to get off at my normal time. I had been chatting with the Sheriff making plans for the evening all the while thinking he was at his apartment 20 minutes away. So you can imagine my surprise when I walked out of the building that evening and my car was waiting for me at the entrance to the building. There the Sheriff was with the biggest grin on his face. He had been chatting with me from his phone in the parking lot instead of at his apartment. Now we had been discussing getting married so I had a suspicion as to what was going on. The Sheriff suggested we go to Z Tejas for dinner and told me not to worry about what I got to eat since it was rare that we actually got a night out alone. Yep, I knew what was up so I was waiting for him to pop the question at any minute. Every time he left the table I was watching for a sign that something was about to happen. The check came and dinner was over and we headed home. Nothing had happened. We stopped to pick his car up from my house and then headed back to my house individually. Since I got home before him, I proceeded to change into my pajamas and settle in for the evening. When the Sheriff walked in, he insisted that go check out something in the garage with him. Apparently he had hidden my ring in the console of my car. Once I opened the compartment and saw the ring in there, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said of course. At that point, he took me back in the house to show me that his parents had already posted on his Facebook page that we were engaged. It had been a running joke with us that he was going to propose on Facebook.

So, it was simple and sweet and just for us. Just how I wanted it. And it was perfect.

Awwwwww - that is really sweet. And I bet he knew you had figured it out and that's why he held you in suspense for so long.
